New Medical Test May Diagnose Heart Attack in Minutes

by Jodee on February 23, 2009

A new test may be able to tell doctors in minutes whether a patient has sustained a heart attack or not. The current tests available don’t give medical staff this valuable information for a number of hours.

New research has found that certain chemical changes in the blood indicate that a person has sustained a heart attack. Further work will be needed before this test can be used in hospitals to diagnose a heart attack. The sooner a heart attack can be diagnosed, the sooner the patient can start receiving appropriate treatment.
